Eliza Dubois

My love of jewelry started young, picking through my mom's jewelry box, then my grandmother's, then anyone else's who would let me, captivated by the sparkle and the stories each piece held. That love has never let go. Over the years, I've taken many jewelry-making classes and taught myself just as much through trial and error along the way, always chasing the next skill, the next technique, the next way to bring an idea to life in metal.

I started working with metal more than 20 years ago, beginning with cold connections before picking up a torch and diving into metalsmithing. Each new skill opened up more possibilities, but through all of it, one thing has stayed the same: designing the piece is where my heart is. There's a peace I feel when I'm drawing or designing — I fall into a state of flow and get lost in the process, often sketching in the afternoon and evening when I feel most inspired.

My inspiration comes from the world around me — the meditative sound of the ocean, the quiet stillness of the woods, traveling to new places near and far, and the elegant beauty of antique and vintage jewelry from different eras. That same sense of calm is what I hope to hand to every person who wears one of my pieces — a quiet confidence, a moment of catching your reflection and simply smiling.

At Alchemy Handcrafted Jewelry in Ogunquit, Maine, every piece starts as a sketch, then takes shape through hand-fabrication, CAD design, or wax carving. As the last step before casting, you're presented with a resin model of your piece so you can see it before it's cast in the metal of your choice and finished by setting stones sourced from all over the world — or some of your own.

Today, I'm grateful to work alongside a talented team, each a master of their craft, bringing you the best heirloom-quality fine jewelry for you and your family to cherish for years to come. I feel so fortunate to spend my days being creative, bringing joy and beauty into the world, one piece at a time.
